How to Use Magical Keyboard

Once launched, Magical Keyboard runs quietly in the background and listens for your input. Here's how to control it:

Activation

  • Press the Insert key to toggle the keyboard on or off.
  • When active, Magical Keyboard will intercept key presses and trigger your custom bindings.

  • Bindings are defined in a simple config file using the format:


    key:value 
    • Example: f1:hello world will type “hello world” when you press F1.
    • You can bind any supported key to any unicode string.










  • Config files should be placed in the config folder and thier name should end with .config.



  • Supported Keys

    You can bind to nearly any key on a standard keyboard. Here's a partial list of supported names:

    • Letters: a to z
    • Digits: 0 to 9
    • Function keys: f1 to f24
    • Navigation: enter, space, tab, backspace, esc, insert, delete, home, end, pageup, pagedown, left, right, up, down
    • Modifiers: shift, ctrl, alt, capslock, numlock, scrolllock
    • Punctuation: ;, =, ,, -, ., /, `, [, ], \, '
    • Keypad: numpad0 to numpad9, numpadadd, numpadsub, numpadmul, numpaddiv
    • Media: vol_up, vol_down, vol_mute, media_play, media_stop, media_next, media_prev
    • Windows keys: lwin, rwin, apps
    • Synonyms: bksp, pgup, pgdn, prtsc, pause

    System Tray Controls

    • Magical Keyboard adds an icon to your system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen).
    • Right-click the icon to:
      • Swap your config file
      • Exit the application
